Inbound tours to learn and experience the history and culture of Kawagoe, such as the Kawagoe Festival and the townscape of old storehouses, planned by the Regional Design Lab Saitama of the Resona Group (President Takafumi Sonoda, hereinafter referred to as "Labtama"), will be on sale from today. This project was applied by Labtama for the Japan Tourism Agency's FY 2024 "Promotion Project for Expansion and Improvement of Inbound Consumption through Special Experiences"※1 and has been adopted.
A half-day guided tour to learn and experience the traditional cultural of the Kawagoe Festival
Saitama Prefecture faces challenges in attracting inbound tourists, with a visit rate of only 1.1% for foreign visitors in 2023, compared to 52.9% for Tokyo and 37.5% for Chiba. Positioning the Kawagoe Festival, which features historic townscapes and magnificent floats, as the main content for inbound tourists, a half-day tour will be offered where participants can actually experience festival-related meals, drinks, and traditional music. Labtama will be responsible for planning this tour, expanding sales channels, promotions, and on-site support.
Contributing to the expansion of tourism consumption, including the creation of a night economy
Kawagoe, with its retro atmosphere enveloping the townscape of old storehouses where strolling and eating is a charm, has weak night economy and mainly focuses on day trips. By attracting inbound tourists who participate in tours to food and beverage establishments and lodging facilities open during the night such as "Bar Azzurri" at Resona Koedo Terrace, it will create opportunities for night economy activation. Through the ripple effect on other food and beverage establishments, it will further contribute to the expansion of consumption and the sustainable development of Kawagoe as a tourist destination.
