Marijuana stocks fell Tuesday in a general pullback, following much of the market after Iran shot rockets at Isreal. $Aurora Cannabis (ACB.US)$ fell 7%, $Canopy Growth (CGC.US)$ fell 7%.
According to Benzinga, the stock drop comes a day after Vice President Harris spoke directly and openly for the first time about her wish to legalize weed on a basketball podcast Monday.
"I just feel strongly, that people should not be going to jail for smoking weed," she said. "And we know historically what that has meant and who has gone to jail."
Harris said she previously sponsored a bill to legalize cannabis while a U.S. Senator. Cannabis stocks have faced volatility in the run-up to the U.S. presidential election, while the FDA considers proposals from bipartisan representatives in the House and Senate to reclassify the drug to a lighter designation.
