「Originator Profile技術研究組合」に参画

Joining the 'Originator Profile Technical Research Association'.

Dai Nippon Printing ·  Oct 2 11:00

On 2024/10/3, Dai Nippon Printing Co., Ltd. (DNP) participated in the “Originator Profile (OP) Technology Research Association” (OP) Association) created by domestic and international media and advertising-related companies.

This association aims for “web standardization” for OP, which is a technology aimed at providing a secure internet environment, to be adopted by browsers, etc. OP is a technology that assigns information such as content creators and digital advertisement publishers on the internet in a verifiable form. By making it possible to identify reliable callers, we will establish a system that allows internet users to easily identify high-quality media and content that has been certified by a third party, leading to the prevention of flooding such as disinformation and misinformation (fake news) and ad fraud (advertising fraud/fraudulent advertising).

Currently, under the supervision of the Keio University Cyber Civilization Research Center, the Association is cooperating with various stakeholders to advance OP specification formulation and test implementation within Japan, and is working on web standardization and social implementation. Furthermore, based on knowledge obtained through domestic research, we have proposed OP to W3C (World Wide Web Consortium), etc., which is a web technology standardization organization, and we aim to contribute to the development of a healthy internet that people around the world can use with peace of mind.

■Purpose of DNP's participation in the Originator Profile Technology Research Association

DNP is one of the few technology vendors in the OP Association, as it already provides the “DNP Decentralized Identity Management Platform” service as a technology to support reliable callers. By participating in the OP Association this time, we will accelerate the expansion of the decentralized ID business, such as implementing content certificate issuance/verification functions on this platform through dialogue and collaboration with each company.

■Comment from Chairman Murai Jun (Keio University Professor) of the Originator Profile Technology Research Association

Our efforts aimed at putting OP technology into practical use have received understanding and expectations from various quarters. It has been nearly 2 years since the establishment of the OP Technology Research Association in December 2022, and the number of participating corporations has risen to 45, and I am deeply grateful.

There have been a series of cases where false and misinformation was spread on SNS surrounding the Noto Peninsula earthquake in January this year, and there has been great interest in OP technology both domestically and internationally as a countermeasure. The Association's project was also selected for countermeasures in disaster-stricken areas using OP technology in the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications's “Development and Demonstration Project for Counterfeiting and Misinformation Countermeasures Technology on the Internet.”

The union is currently undergoing repeated demonstration tests aimed at social implementation. Specific preparations are also underway with the aim of international standardization of Internet technical standards. Going forward, we will continue to accelerate activities aimed at international standardization, starting with practical application of OP technology and social implementation.

The OP we are developing is a new technology that makes it possible to safely disclose information on content originators using digitized codes. Social implementation of OP technology is realized, and if OP use progresses in media, advertisements, etc., a healthy internet space will be maintained, and public welfare will be enhanced as a result.

With OP technology, highly reliable media can be visualized, leading to an improvement in the reliability of news that is being questioned due to the spread of false and misinformation, etc., and above all, it is expected that it will contribute to the construction of a healthier digital advertising market.
