Li Chunlin, Deputy Director of the National Development and Reform Commission, answered questions from reporters on issues such as "how will the country create job opportunities".

Li Chunlin stated that since the beginning of this year, various steady growth and employment policies have continued to exert efforts, and the overall employment situation remains stable. In the first eight months of this year, the urban surveyed unemployment rate averaged 5.2%, a year-on-year decrease of 0.1 percentage points. The workforce flows from industries with low labor productivity to those with high labor productivity, which is a very normal phenomenon.

Technological progress not only drives economic transformation and industrial upgrading but also gives rise to many new professions and job positions.

For example, the robust development of the low-altitude economy has created a new position of drone operator. According to relevant departments' estimates, the talent gap for this position in China now reaches as high as 1 million people.

For example, in the new energy autos maintenance industry, the total employment in China is currently less than 0.1 million people. Predictions from relevant departments indicate that by 2025, the talent gap in the professional fields of new energy autos maintenance and research will reach 1.03 million people, which presents a huge employment opportunity.

Li Chunlin stated that on September 26, the Central Political Bureau meeting made a series of clear deployments on doing a good job in employment. The key to expanding employment lies in development, especially high-quality development. The employment priority strategy will be vigorously implemented from four aspects. First, expand effective demand to create new points of employment growth. Third, broaden the employment space of life service industries. Innovate and develop service consumption, accelerate the cultivation of new consumption scenarios, vigorously develop the silver economy. As China's aging population increases year by year, it is necessary to fully unleash the employment potential in the fields of retirement, home care, childcare, and logistics. Taking the home care industry as an example, currently, there are approximately 30 million home service industry employees in China, while the actual market demand is as high as 50 million people, especially for high-quality and high-level home service personnel in extremely short supply.

Four, play the promoting role of professional education and skills training in employment. Coordinate resources from multiple channels to increase investment in the construction of skill training infrastructure, guide local areas in building and effectively utilizing public training bases, industry-education integration training bases, and other platform carriers, accurately match enterprise labor demand, and provide the general labor force with customized, targeted, and project-based training to enable them to pave the way for employment and income growth with specialized skills.
