New York State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli's annual report shows that the average salary (including bonuses) in the securities industry in New York, USA is $0.47137 million, a decrease of 5.2% year-on-year, mainly due to a reduction in bonuses. However, DiNapoli pointed out that in the first half of 2024, the pre-tax profit of brokerage trading business in the New York securities industry soared to $23.2 billion, an increase of nearly 80% year-on-year, indicating that bonuses are expected to increase by 7.4% this year.

In terms of employment, the number of employees in the securities industry in New York State reached 0.2149 million in 2023, an increase of 0.0156 million from the pre-pandemic level in 2019. Although New York City's position as the financial center of the USA remains unshaken, with the number of securities industry jobs being twice that of California, the employment growth rate of 7.8% is lower than Texas's 26.6% and Utah's 40.5%.

Despite the decline in salaries, the average salary in the New York securities industry remains the highest among all industries in the state, far exceeding the average salary of private enterprises at $0.0987 million and the median actual household income in the USA at $0.08061 million.
