In the retail trade sector, labor shortages due to a decrease in the working population have become a challenge. There is a need for sustainable store operation by reducing the workload of employees working in stores and improving productivity in stores.
Lawson aims to achieve "Real×Tech Convenience," where warmth born from real human connections in store and customer convenience utilizing digital technology coexist. They have implemented self-checkout systems, AI-based ordering systems in all stores, introduced customer service through avatars and smartphone cash registers in some stores to improve store productivity.
Tokyu and Tokyu Store are deploying services such as self-checkout systems and credit card payments with "TOKYU CARD Smart Pay" where credit card payments can be made cardlessly by presenting a smartphone. They are based on the business vision of providing "customer experiences that exceed expectations" and responding to the shortening of time requirements for customers using stations and commercial facility employees.
The three companies will collaborate to expand walk-through payment stores in station premises to minimize shopping time and streamline store operations. After the deployment period, they will verify customer usage and consider future expansion.
