Shimizu Construction Co., Ltd.'s compact hydrogen energy utilization system 'Hydro Q-BiC Lite' developed by President Kazuyuki Inoue has been selected for the hydrogen production and storage equipment that will constitute the hydrogen supply chain to be implemented in the NTT Pavilion and Panasonic Group Pavilion at the Japan International Exposition 2025 (hereinafter referred to as the Osaka-Kansai Expo).

It is believed that the demand for hydrogen, which does not emit carbon dioxide, will increase in the future to achieve carbon neutrality. On the other hand, in order for hydrogen to become widely popular as the next-generation clean energy, it is necessary to establish supply chains for hydrogen production, supply, and utilization in various regions.

In the initiatives of the NTT Pavilion and the Panasonic Group Pavilion, a hydrogen pipeline utilizing underground communication pipelines will be established between the two pavilions located approximately 200 meters apart. Green hydrogen produced at the NTT Pavilion using solar power-generated electricity is supplied to the Panasonic Group Pavilion located approximately 200 meters away. The green hydrogen is generated by electrolyzing water with solar power, stored in a hydrogen storage facility, and then supplied to the fuel cells of both pavilions.

Hydro Q-BiC Lite is a compact hydrogen energy utilization system that contains all the equipment for the hydrogen supply chain, from production to use, compactly stored in a container. The system consists of hydrogen production equipment, hydrogen storage equipment, and fuel cells, and by housing these in a container equivalent to 40 feet, space-saving is achieved. The storage facility utilizes its own hydrogen absorption alloy to safely store hydrogen on pavilions expected to have many visitors. With the storage facility's energy storage function, it absorbs output fluctuations, such as those from solar power generation due to weather, enabling a stable supply of hydrogen.

Our company aims to contribute to the expansion of hydrogen energy utilization and ultimately the realization of a carbon-neutral society by focusing on the societal implementation of 'Hydro Q-BiC Lite'.
