The domestic gaming market has entered a mature stage, and the trend of going global is becoming more prominent.

According to the Q3 2024 China Gaming Industry Quarterly Report obtained by the Wise Finance APP, this quarter saw significant revenue growth from new mobile games, flagship products, and also notable increases in the standalone and console markets driven by 'Black Myth: Wukong,' resulting in record high revenue for the Chinese gaming market.

In the third quarter of 2024, China's gaming market revenue was 91.766 billion yuan, a 22.96% increase compared to the previous quarter, and a 8.95% increase year-on-year.

Among them, the actual sales revenue of china mobile gaming market was 65.658 billion yuan, with a 20.20% increase compared to the previous quarter and a 1.21% increase year-on-year. The actual sales revenue of China's client game market was 16.926 billion yuan, a decrease of 0.39% compared to the previous quarter but an increase of 0.40% year-on-year. The actual sales revenue of China's self-developed games in the overseas market was 5.169 billion US dollars, with a 15.40% increase compared to the previous quarter and a 20.75% increase year-on-year, mainly attributed to the outstanding performance of 'Mythos: Wukong' in the overseas market.

Haitong Securities' research report points out that the domestic gaming market has entered a mature stage, and the trend of going global is inevitable. In 2023, the Chinese gaming market accounted for approximately 37.4% of the global market, leaving nearly twice the space for overseas markets. Currently, the U.S. and Japan remain the main markets for Chinese gaming exports, with market shares reaching 32.51% and 18.87% respectively. However, the penetration rate is still below 30%. From October 2023 to April 2024, the revenue from Chinese games going global has steadily increased, empowered by AI to enhance research and development as well as marketing efficiency.
