小鹏汽车IP再更名背后:每年投入35亿AI训练费用 2026年实现L4级部分场景“无人驾驶”

Behind xpeng's branding change: investing 3.5 billion yuan in AI training costs annually, achieving L4 level partial scene "self-driving cars" by 2026.

Xpeng invests as much as 3.5 billion yuan in AI training costs annually under a clear end-to-end technology pathway. Based on this technology pathway, by the third quarter of 2025, Xpeng's end-to-end large model will achieve Level 3 intelligent assisted driving, with less than 1 takeover per 100 kilometers; in 2026, it will achieve Level 4 partial low-speed scenarios with 'no one in the driver's seat' driving.

After renaming to 'Xpeng AI Automobile Company', He Xiaopeng, the chairman of Xpeng Motors, is determined to fully integrate AI. On October 24, He Xiaopeng announced on Weibo that the annual 'Xpeng 1024 Technology Day' event that has been held for five consecutive years will be upgraded to 'Xpeng AI Technology Day'. On the same day, the AI MediaTek 5.4.0 version mounted on the Xpeng P7+ was officially launched.

"Standing at the starting point of the new decade, Xpeng is committed to becoming a global AI automobile company." He Xiaopeng revealed on Weibo that on November 6, the sixth Xpeng AI Technology Day will be held at South China University of Technology, showcasing to the public the latest developments and breakthroughs in various fields such as AI automobiles, AI robots, and flying cars by Xpeng.

To support this comprehensive transformation, Li Liyun, the head of Xpeng Motors' AI Driving department, stated that Xpeng invests as much as 3.5 billion yuan in AI training costs annually under a clear end-to-end technology pathway.

In 2024, multiple car companies successively launched end-to-end large models. At the Xpeng AI Technology Day 'preview' event on October 24, Li Liyun mentioned three paths of end-to-end technology: the 'large model' stacked with a large number of rules-based small models, requiring a large number of excellent rule engineers; the 'in-car large model', directly deploying the end-to-end model on vehicles, although effective, it is limited by the vehicle's computing power and may face bottlenecks with the increase of training data later on; Xpeng's cloud-based large model, with parameters that can reach 80 times those of in-car models after launch, possessing time and space understanding capabilities, and cloud computing power exceeding 10EFlops by 2025.

Based on this technology pathway, by the third quarter of 2025, Xpeng's end-to-end large model will achieve Level 3 intelligent assisted driving, with less than 1 takeover per 100 kilometers; in 2026, it will achieve Level 4 in some low-speed scenarios with 'no one in the driver's seat' driving. Prior to this, Xpeng has equipped the entire lineup of the pre-sold Xpeng P7+ with AI driving. Xpeng P7+ and subsequent models will no longer distinguish between Max and Pro versions, achieving 'no optional installation, no subscription, no payment required'.

Reportedly, the AI MediaTek system first launched on the Xpeng P7+, as the industry's first operating system to simultaneously apply AI technology to intelligent cabins and smart driving, has now been updated to version 5.4.0, involving a total of 248 functional updates related to AI driving, AI cabins, AI chassis, and AI connectivity. Among them, the new Xpeng AI X-Pedal single-pedal mode is added.

Data shows that Xpeng delivered 21,352 new cars in September, marking an 8-month gap since the last 'breaking 20,000'. 'MONA M03 and P7+ deliveries will significantly increase Xpeng's market share; Xpeng Motors is confident that delivery volumes will increase significantly quarter-over-quarter in the third and fourth quarters of this year, reaching a new high in deliveries in the fourth quarter,' said He Xiaopeng at the second-quarter financial report meeting.

However, in the current market environment, xpeng must further strengthen its AI capabilities and introduce more products accordingly. According to He Xiaopeng's determination, in the future, the weight of AI technology will influence nearly 50% of purchase decisions.
