Trade Alert: Chief Digital Innovation Officer & President of Digital Banners Of Signet Jewelers Oded Edelman Has Sold Stock

Simply Wall St ·  Oct 26 09:14

Some Signet Jewelers Limited (NYSE:SIG) shareholders may be a little concerned to see that the Chief Digital Innovation Officer & President of Digital Banners, Oded Edelman, recently sold a substantial US$1.3m worth of stock at a price of US$94.60 per share. That diminished their holding by a very significant 68%, which arguably implies a strong desire to reallocate capital.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At Signet Jewelers

In fact, the recent sale by Chief Digital Innovation Officer & President of Digital Banners Oded Edelman was not their only sale of Signet Jewelers shares this year. Earlier in the year, they fetched US$78.07 per share in a -US$1.4m sale. So it's clear an insider wanted to take some cash off the table, even below the current price of US$91.86. When an insider sells below the current price, it suggests that they considered that lower price to be fair. That makes us wonder what they think of the (higher) recent valuation. However, while insider selling is sometimes discouraging, it's only a weak signal. It is worth noting that this sale was only 31% of Oded Edelman's holding.

I like to look at how many shares insiders own in a company, to help inform my view of how aligned they are with insiders.
