U.S. stocks were higher, with the Dow Jones index gaining around 50 points on Tuesday.
Shares of Corning Incorporated (NYSE:GLW) rose sharply during Tuesday's session after reporting better-than-expected third-quarter financial results and issued better-than-expected fourth-quarter outlook.
Corning reported quarterly earnings of 54 cents per share which beat the analyst consensus estimate of 52 cents per share. The company reported quarterly sales of $3.73 billion which beat the analyst consensus estimate of $3.72 billion.
Corning shares jumped 7% to $50.12 on Tuesday.
