Chicago Nikkei 225 futures settlement price was 200 yen higher at 39,170 yen compared to Osaka midday.

In the New York foreign exchange market on the 29th, the dollar-yen rate rose to 153.87 yen, then fell to 153.03 yen before rebounding to 153.43 yen by the close. Dollar buying prevailed due to the rise in U.S. long-term interest rates. The dollar saw reduced buying pressure amid expectations of rate cuts as September's JOLT job openings fell below expectations, hinting at a labor market slowdown. However, with October's consumer confidence index rising more than expected, indicating a resilient economy, selling of the dollar was limited. The Euro-dollar exchange rate fell to 1.0769 dollars before rising to 1.0816 dollars, closing at 1.0815 dollars.

NY crude oil futures for December showed a slight decline (NYMEX crude oil December contract closing price: 67.21, down 0.17).
