Changes continue to accumulate
Today, the solid-state battery sector has risen sharply. As of press release, Lingge Technology and Yintu Internet have risen and stopped by 30cm. Zijiang Enterprise, Fengyuan Co., Ltd., Huayou Cobalt, Blue Sea Huateng, and BAIC Blue Valley have all risen and stopped. Wanrun Xinneng, Betray, Xia Tungsten Xinneng, and Zhongke Electric have surged by more than 10%.
According to the news, the solid-state battery industry has recently welcomed another series of catalysis. Among them, Changan Automobile and Tailan New Energy will jointly hold a solid-state lithium battery technology conference on November 7, which will bring new solid-state lithium battery technology.
In addition, Ehang Intelligent's strategic investment in the solid-state battery company Xinjie Energy and Ningde Era condensate batteries were successfully tested in 4-ton aircraft, and it is expected that the aviation sector will gradually start implementing solid-state battery applications.
Car companies compete to lay out solid-state batteries
Compared with lithium-ion batteries currently widely used in the industry, the biggest difference is that solid electrolytes are used instead of electrolytes, which have higher energy density, higher safety, and longer cycle life.
With the rapid development of the NEV industry, power battery technology has become the key to driving the industry forward, and solid-state batteries have attracted much attention as representatives of next-generation battery technology.
Recently, the solid-state battery industry has ushered in a series of positive news.
On October 24, “Beijing Yizhuang” released news that the first all-solid-state lithium battery mass production line in China was officially put into operation, capable of mass-producing 50 amp-hour all-solid-state batteries.
On October 26, the 500MWh all-solid-state battery mass production line in Yudu, Jiangxi was officially put into operation, and all-solid-state battery products were also released.
In addition, Tailan New Energy and Changan Automobile will hold a new solid-state lithium battery technology press conference in Chongqing on November 7, which will bring new solid-state lithium battery technology.
In fact, not only Changan Automobile, but other car companies that have laid out new energy tracks are also competing for solid-state batteries:
Chery announced at the 2024 Global Innovation Conference held recently that Chery is developing Kunpeng solid-state batteries and plans to achieve targeted operation of solid-state batteries in 2026 and mass listing in 2027;
A patent application for “all-solid-state batteries, battery packs and electrical equipment” by BYD was also recently approved and publicized;
SAIC Motor Group plans to achieve mass production of all-solid-state batteries in the fourth quarter of 2026, and SAIC Qingtao's first all-solid-state battery mass production line will be completed by the end of 2025;
The GAC Group plans to install all-solid-state batteries in 2026, and will be the first to install them on Haobo models.
According to incomplete statistics, more than 10 overseas car companies, including Volkswagen, Toyota, Nissan, Honda, Hyundai, GM, BMW, Ford, and Mercedes-Benz, are all speeding up the development and mass production of solid-state batteries.
In addition, Ehang Intelligent's strategic investment in the solid-state battery company Xinjie Energy and Ningde Era condensate batteries were successfully tested in 4-ton aircraft, and it is expected that the aviation sector will gradually start implementing solid-state battery applications.
Solid-state battery industrialization accelerates
Under the joint promotion of various “players”, the popularity of the solid-state battery industry continues to rise, and the pace of industrialization is accelerating, becoming a key high point of competition for next-generation battery technology.
Specifically, judging from the industrial implementation situation, the all-solid-state battery mass production nodes of leading power battery companies such as Ningde Era, Sunwoda, Guoxuan Hi-Tech, and China Airlines will basically be around 2027, and it is expected that all-solid-state batteries will be loaded in batches by 2030.
As the industry competes for mass production, Jibang Consulting predicts that by 2027, solid-state battery production will reach the GWh (gigawatt-hour) level. After 2030, the application scale of all solid-state batteries will be greater than 10 GWH, and the battery price will drop to around 1 yuan/watt-hour. In 2035, cell prices will have an opportunity to drop to 0.6 yuan/watt-hour to 0.7 yuan/watt-hour.
According to the Oriental Securities Research Report, all-solid-state batteries are expected to be first used in the consumer electronics, aerospace, and high-end electric vehicle markets in the early stages, and their penetration rates in power batteries and consumer batteries will reach 2% and 10%, respectively, by 2030.
According to the CITIC Securities Research Report, automakers have recently taken the lead in the solid-state battery field. In October, leading domestic and foreign automakers continued to advance the development and application of solid-state batteries through cooperation or layout. Looking forward to November, Changan Automobile and Tailan New Energy will hold a solid-state battery technology conference, and the industry is expected to welcome catalysis again.
Furthermore, the aviation sector is gradually becoming an important implementation scenario for solid-state batteries, and lithium battery equipment manufacturers are expected to develop a second growth curve in the solid-state battery field. Battery manufacturers, solid electrolyte companies, and companies involved in the solid-state battery industry chain that have set up the solid-state battery business are expected to fully benefit.
