Takuma <6013> announced on the 7th that it has won the contract for the construction of a sludge incinerator at the Toba Water Environment Conservation Center (located in Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture) from the Kyoto City Sewerage Bureau. The contract amount is 6.8 billion yen (excluding tax), and the design and construction period is from September 2024 to March 2028 (3 years and 6 months).
In this project, the existing sludge incinerator will be updated, and the company will introduce the energy-saving and energy-generating "step furnace type sewage sludge incineration power generation system" it developed, planning to complete it by the end of March 2028. This system, which incinerates sludge at a high temperature of over 900 degrees Celsius using a step furnace (stoker furnace), does not require auxiliary fuel derived from fossil fuels during the incineration process (energy-saving). In addition, it utilizes the waste heat during incineration to generate electricity (energy creation), making it possible to reduce the emission of greenhouse gases.
This project marks the fifth domestic case of this system being awarded to the company. The company will continue to work on expanding the adoption of this system with high environmental performance and contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions at sewage treatment facilities and effectively utilizing the energy contained in sewage sludge.
