At the closing time on the 11th, the number of rising stocks in the Nikkei average constituents was 82, the number of declining stocks was 140, and the number of unchanged stocks was 3.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average in the U.S. market at the end of last week closed at 43,988.99, up 259.65 points, while the Nasdaq closed at 19,286.78, up 17.32 points. Expectations for buying policies prioritizing growth by President-elect Trump intensified, leading to an increase after the opening. Furthermore, with the Michigan consumer sentiment index exceeding expectations, the market rose on growth expectations. The decline in long-term interest rates also supported the market, which reached record highs. Amid the strong performance of the U.S. stock market, the Nikkei average today started with a somewhat sell-off trend due to catch-up to Chicago futures. It was expected that the semiconductor sector in Tokyo market would not be active due to the decline in the SOX index, but it relatively held firm with the Nikkei average at the previous day's closing level. However, amid difficulties in actively moving as earnings reports peak, profit-taking and wait-and-see selling prevailed, leading to a heavy upside development as it approached the psychological milestone of 40,000 yen.
At the closing of the Nikkei average, it closed at 39,533.32, up 32.95 yen (+0.08%) from the previous day. The trading volume on the Tokyo Stock Exchange Prime Market was 2,026.18 million shares, with a trading value of 4,225.6 billion yen. By industry sector, nonferrous metals, rubbers, warehouse & transportation, other products, and air transportation rose, while chemicals, petroleum & coal, iron & steel, other financial, and food products declined. In the Tokyo Stock Exchange Prime Market, there were 42% gainers and 55% decliners.

Additionally, the top gainer among the Nikkei average constituents was DeNA <2432>, up 17.28%, followed by Furukawa Electric <5801> in the second place, up 14.80%.
