China EV Battery Installations in Oct: CATL Share at 42.78%, BYD 26.73%

In October, China's power battery installations amounted to 59.2 GWh, up 51 percent year-on-year and up 8.6 percent from October.

In October, China's power battery installed capacity was 59.2 GWh, up 51 percent year-on-year and up 8.6 percent from September, according to data released today by the China Automotive Battery Innovation Alliance (CABIA).

CATL installed 25.32 GWh of power batteries in October, continuing to rank first with a 42.78 percent share, but down 1.23 percentage points from September's 44.02 percent share.

BYD's power battery installed capacity was 15.82 GWh in October, ranking second with a 26.73 percent share, up 2.54 percentage points from 24.20 percent in September.

CALB ranked third in October with a 6.61 percent share of 3.91 GWh of installed power batteries, down 0.08 percentage points from 6.69 percent in September.

Gotion High-tech ranked fourth in October with an installed base of 3.08 GWh and a 5.2 percent share.

China's lithium ternary battery installed capacity in October was 12.2 GWh, accounting for 20.6 percent of the total installed capacity, down 1.1 percent year-on-year and down 7.2 percent from September.

Lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery installed capacity was 47.0 GWh, accounting for 79.4 percent of the total, up 75.1 percent year-on-year and up 13.7 percent from September.

CATL, CALB, and Svolt Energy were the top three in terms of installed capacity of ternary batteries in October, with shares of 75.12 percent, 10.64 percent, and 3.64 percent, respectively.

In the LFP battery market, CATL, BYD and Gotion were the top three in terms of installed capacity in October, with shares of 34.42 percent, 33.67 percent and 6.19 percent respectively.

China produced 113.1 GWh of power and other batteries in October, up 45.5 percent year-on-year and up 1.6 percent from September.

Ternary batteries produced 23.5 GWh in October, down 1.1 percent year-on-year and 13 percent from September. LFP batteries produced 89.5 GWh, up 66.1 percent year-on-year and up 6.3 percent from September.

China exported 10.8 GWh of power batteries in October, including 7.3 GWh of ternary batteries and 3.4 GWh of LFP batteries.
