Shuppin <3179> announced its financial results for the second quarter of the fiscal year ending May 2024 (April-September 24). Revenue increased by 13.4% year-on-year to 26.521 billion yen, operating profit increased by 24.3% to 2.02 billion yen, ordinary profit increased by 22.8% to 2.003 billion yen, and interim net profit increased by 22.9% to 1.365 billion yen.

The revenue of the camera business increased by 16.0% year-on-year to 20.412 billion yen, and the segment profit increased by 20.4% to 2.493 billion yen. With the expansion of the market due to the increase in new memberships and female customers, the release of successor models to popular models continued, leading to an increase in revenue. Continuing from the previous business year, efforts were made to expand content centered on video distribution. Regarding YouTube, the introduction videos of short videos and popular model successors are attracting new viewers, with the number of new viewers continuously increasing to about double compared to the previous year, and efforts to attract new viewers such as younger audiences are progressing. In addition, the promotion of "One to One Marketing" utilizing AI has been advancing, and the distribution volume on LINE has grown 17 times compared to the reinforcement in 2022.

The revenue of the watch business increased by 5.7% to 5.45 billion yen, and the segment profit increased by 54.5% to 0.289 billion yen. The business performed well until July, but domestic market conditions became sluggish after August due to the decrease in inbound due to the strong yen trend.

The revenue of the writing instruments business increased by 13.9% to 0.236 billion yen, and the segment profit increased by 56.3% to 0.039 billion yen. Both new and used products, as well as EC and stores, performed well.

The revenue of the bicycle business decreased by 1.4% to 0.421 billion yen, and the segment profit decreased by 23.7% to 0.014 billion yen. The effect of increased purchases of new products on EC led to double-digit growth in EC revenue compared to the same period last year. However, there were impacts such as a decrease in duty-free sales.

Regarding the performance forecast for the full fiscal year ending in March 2025, the company plans to maintain its initial plan with revenue at 56.617 billion yen, operating profit at 3.854 billion yen (up 15.3% from the previous year), ordinary profit at 3.824 billion yen (up 14.4%), and net income at 2.639 billion yen (up 13.6%).
