Financial Union News, November 12th, as Donald Trump prepares to return to the White House, one of his biggest supporters, billionaire Elon Musk, is being closely watched for the role he will play in the new Trump administration.
An artificial intelligence advocacy organization is calling for Trump to appoint Musk as the special AI advisor for his second administration.
The American Responsible Innovation Organization (ARI) launched a petition on Monday, highly praising Musk for his significant contributions to advancing AI development, stating that he is fully capable of helping ensure that the USA continues to maintain its leading position in the field of artificial intelligence, while also ensuring the safe development of AI.
"No one is more capable than him (Musk) of helping the Trump administration navigate this new technology," said Satya Thallam, Vice President of Government Affairs at ARI, in a statement.
"He (Musk) is someone who not only leads the development of artificial intelligence, but also constantly warns of the potential risks of artificial intelligence. He knows how to keep the USA at the forefront of secure artificial intelligence," Thallam added.
According to a press release, ARI aims to collect 0.01 million signatures for their petition.
Musk has played a key role in supporting the development of artificial intelligence. He helped found OpenAI, a company whose ChatGPT tool has brought AI to the public and sparked a race among tech companies to develop and release AI models.
Elon Musk also owns his own ai company xAI, and is increasingly integrating AI technology into his electric car company Tesla.
While promoting the development of ai, Musk has long been concerned about the safety of artificial intelligence - one of ARI's most concerning issues, with a mission to advocate for AI policies that serve the public interest.
According to media reports, Musk once tried to acquire DeepMind in order to prevent the AI lab from falling into Google's hands, but was unsuccessful. Musk stated at the time, "The future of AI should not be dictated by Larry (one of Google's founders)."
Earlier this year, Musk sued OpenAI and its co-founders Sam Altman and Greg Brockman, accusing them of deceiving him by promising to create safe and transparent AI, but ultimately acting against their original intentions in an attempt to become a for-profit company.
Previously, Trump suggested that Musk might lead a group focused on reducing government costs. Musk himself has stated that if Trump were elected, he could cut the federal budget by 2 trillion dollars. However, given Musk's management of multiple companies and his extremely busy schedule, it remains uncertain whether he will ultimately take a position in the Trump administration.
