LGBTQ+に関する取り組み評価制度「PRIDE指標」でシルバー認定

Silver certification in the evaluation system for LGBTQ+ initiatives, "PRIDE indicators."

Shimadzu ·  Nov 13 07:00

On November 14, Shimadzu Corporation obtained silver certification for the “PRIDE Index,” an evaluation system for efforts related to sexual minorities such as LGBTQ+ (hereinafter LGBTQ+) in companies. Work with Pride, a general incorporated association, established an evaluation index for LGBTQ+ initiatives in the workplace for the first time in Japan in 2016 in order to create workplaces where LGBTQ+ people can work comfortably beyond the framework of companies and organizations, etc. It is evaluated based on 5 indicators: Policy (Declaration of Action), Representation (community of parties), Inspiration (enlightenment activities), Development (personnel system/program), and Engagement/Engagement (social contribution/external relations activities).

We launched the diversity promotion project “WiSH” in 2015, and established a Diversity & Inclusion Promotion Group (currently DE&I*1 Promotion Group) in the Human Resources Development Office of the Human Resources Department in 2022. We have been working to promote understanding through lectures inviting lecturers who are also involved in LGBTQ+, in-house screenings of LGBTQ+ films, and distribution of stickers showing ALLY*2. Furthermore, we have strengthened our efforts for stakeholders, starting with LGBTQ+ employees and business partners, starting with the introduction of consultation desks for experts from outside the company due to issues revealed in employee awareness surveys.

Shimadzu Corporation has defined the Shimadzu Group DE&I promotion slogan as “Embrace Differences, Include One and All, Let's acknowledge and accept differences.” We have acknowledged differences in various attributes, perspectives, values, etc., and have promoted DE&I activities in order to transform each person's strengths into organizational strength. Going forward, we will continue to aim to create a workplace where everyone can be themselves and work with peace of mind by improving systems and work environments.

  • *1 Diversity, Equity & Inclusion
  • *2 A person who actively understands and is close to LGBTQ+ parties
