T&S Group <4055> announced on the 18th that its subsidiary T&S Advanced Technology Business Division applied for the 12th Research Proposal Call for Research Proposals (hereinafter, RFP12) at the National Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) Space Exploration Innovation Hub, and the adoption was offered a job offer.
At the JAXA Space Exploration Innovation Hub, a new research system “Moon to Mars Innovation” is being implemented in which research issues are set and joint research is carried out on system/element technology for gradually realizing lunar surface/Mars exploration based on international space exploration scenarios from 2024.
In RFP12, 2 themes were set as system type assignments and 4 themes were set as game change type issues, but the company selected “[Next Generation Mobility Area] High Accuracy, Low Power Consumption, and Real-time Self-Position Estimation Technology for Lunar/Mars Exploration Rovers and Deep Space Probes,” which is a game-changing issue, and applied.
In the research proposal, a joint research plan combining image recognition technology and program implementation/optimization technology in the edge AI field that the company has cultivated so far has been prepared, and proposals are being made for setting issues.
In response to the current adoption offer, a 2-year implementation plan was prepared in collaboration with JAXA for the research proposal, and joint research is scheduled to begin after the agreement is signed.
The company plans not only to further improve edge AI technology through this joint research, but also to actively work on research and development with an eye on future space applications.
