报告:法国领跑欧洲新能源汽车充电桩扩张 英国放缓

Report: France leads europe in the expansion of new energy fund charging stations while the united kingdom slows down.

Global Market Report ·  Nov 19, 2024 17:02

In the first nine months of this year, the number of public charging stations for new energy autos in France exceeded that of any other country in Europe.

France currently has nearly 137,000 charging stations available for drivers of new energy autos, with over one-fifth deployed in 2024. Factors driving this momentum include the expansion of major networks (including the nearly doubling of the footprint of France's electrical utilities group EDF), over 50 new entrants driving increased competition, and low electricity prices.

The Advenir plan is a government initiative to subsidize the construction of charging stations with a budget of €0.32 billion (equivalent to $0.338 billion), which will conclude next year, and may have also stimulated the construction of charging stations.

As the third-largest market for new energy autos in Europe, France is not the only country currently developing smoothly; Belgium and the Netherlands have also seen their number of newly added charging stations exceed 20,000 this year. However, development in Germany and the united kingdom has hit the brakes.

In the first three quarters of 2024, the united kingdom added only 8,000 charging stations, less than half of the same period last year. Although new energy auto sales in the united kingdom have increased, the high electricity and grid costs for operators are putting pressure on the economics of operating charging locations.

According to analysis by new energy finance, the united kingdom has the highest charging costs for new energy autos in Europe, with the average cost for fast charging at $0.97/kWh. In contrast, France has the lowest at $0.54/kWh, and France is one of the few countries where fast charging is cheaper than rbob gasoline.

Charging operators are weighing the motivations and costs of expanding their networks. The correlation between the number of charging stations, prices, and new energy auto sales does not hold in all markets, but the significant construction of charging stations and low charging prices are only beneficial to owners of new energy autos.
