Sumitomo Electric Industries, Ltd. (Head office: Chuo-ku, Osaka City, President: Haru Inoue, hereinafter referred to as "the Company") reaffirmed its cooperation with the Scottish government and expressed its commitment to more actively accelerate the UK's energy transition.
On November 18, 2024 (local date), Prime Minister John Swinney inspected the construction site of the power cable factory of our subsidiary, SUMITOMO ELECTRIC U.K. POWER CABLES LTD. (hereinafter, SEUK-CL) located at Nigg Port in Scotland.
This factory will produce submarine cables used for offshore wind power plants and national and regional interconnection lines, which are critical infrastructure supporting the transition to renewable energy.
The Company confirmed again with Prime Minister John Swinney its contribution to achieving the net-zero society advocated by both the Scottish and UK governments through essential technology for the transition to clean energy.
