The US stock market is mixed. The Dow average rose by 139.53 dollars to 43,408.47 dollars, and the NASDAQ closed at 18,966.14, down 21.33 points.
The continued existence of geopolitical risks was warned by reports that Ukraine had launched British-made long-range missiles into Russian territory, and after being close, it fell. Director Bowman of the Federal Reserve (Fed) showed a hawkish stance that progress in inflation had stagnated, and sales continued to fall disgusted by the rise in long-term interest rates. However, ahead of the announcement of financial results for the semiconductor NVIDIA (NVDA), which is attracting attention as driving the market price, the Dow was bought back until the end of the transaction, and it turned upward. The NASDAQ also reduced its decline, but it was unable to recover the positive zone, and it ended in mixed circumstances. By sector, while healthcare equipment and services rose, food and daily necessities declined.
Household goods retailer Williams Sonoma (WSM) rose as adjusted earnings per share exceeded expectations in the 3rd quarter financial results and announced an additional share repurchase program plan. The media Comcast (CMCSA) announced plans to separate and become independent cable television network divisions such as “CNBC” of NBC Universal, and it rose. Paramount Global (PARA), which is in the same industry, has also risen to expectations such as the possibility of further mergers under the new Trump administration.
As for discount retail target (TGT), existing store sales for the 3rd quarter fell below expectations, and when sluggish sales growth and inventory accumulation became profit pressure factors, the full-year forecast was revised downward, and it declined drastically. Sales in the electric vehicle (EV) division of the automobile manufacturer Ford Motor (F) were poor, announced employment cuts for 4,000 people in Europe, and declined.
Semiconductor manufacturer NVIDIA (NVDA) announced financial results for the 3rd quarter after the transaction ended. Earnings per share exceeded expectations, and the dividend plan was maintained, and profit margin forecasts for the fourth quarter were almost in line with the market, but sales were ahead due to overtime trading without meeting market expectations.
