On November 15, the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (00388) and Hang Seng Index Company announced a collaboration to launch the "Shanghai-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Stock Connect China Enterprises Index", which will be launched on November 21, 2024.

According to the Securities Times APP, on November 15, the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (00388) and Hang Seng Index Company announced a collaboration to launch the "Shanghai-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Stock Connect China Enterprises Index", which will be launched on November 21, 2024. Hang Seng Index Company's CEO Wu Yuen Man stated that the main advantage of the new index is the joint launch by Hang Seng Index Company and the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, believing that the cooperation between the two financial institutions with unique positions in Hong Kong can drive the development of the entire market. She disclosed that different exchanges and ETF issuers have inquired about the new index, and it is expected that ETFs tracking this index will be launched in the future.

Hang Seng Bank (00011) CEO Sherry Si Ying Yan stated that the launch of the index is an important milestone in the continuous development of the relationship between Hong Kong and the mainland capital markets, providing investors with opportunities to capture the growth of the Chinese market.

Hong Kong Stock Exchange CEO Bonnie Chan Yi-ting stated that the new index provides investors with more choices and opportunities to deploy in the mainland and Hong Kong markets, providing a comprehensive and authoritative benchmark. It is believed that the index can bring more vitality to the Hong Kong ETF and product ecosystem and help strengthen the connection between China and the world.

She pointed out that this year's record-breaking northbound and southbound trading volumes indicate that global investment in the mainland is still inadequate and remains very attractive to investors. The mutual market access is the way for investors to enter the mainland market.

Regarding the future expansion of products related to the new index to the Middle East market, HKEX Co-Head of Markets Bonnie Yuen Wing-ying stated that it is still too early to promote products related to the new index to the Middle East. Both parties have just started promoting the new index to ETF issuers and asset managers to understand market demand. It is premature to promote to the Middle East at this stage.
