Kawasaki Kisen Co., Ltd.

Kawasaki Kisen Co., Ltd. (hereafter, “our company”) has recently carried out forest conservation activities in the mountain forest owned by our company in Numata City, Gunma Prefecture. This activity has been carried out since 2023/11 under the cooperation of the Tone Numata Forest Association (Kawaba-mura, Tone-gun, Gunma-ken, hereinafter “Forest Association”) in collaboration with the NPO Chiba University Environmental ISO Student Committee (hereafter, “Chiba University Environmental ISO Student Committee”), which previously had a cooperative relationship with satoyama conservation activities, and this is the second time.

A total of 14 people from our company and the Chiba University Environmental ISO Student Committee participated in this activity, which was carried out on 2024/11/9, and soil preparation such as mowing and planting trees were carried out under the guidance and advice of the Forest Association. Furthermore, when planting trees, tree species suitable for this area have been selected from the past.

The Group's business is a business that relies on natural capital, starting with the ocean, and we regard not only climate change issues, but also efforts to preserve biodiversity in the ocean and on land as one of the important themes in our business activities. Our “K” LINE Environmental Vision 2050 (Note 1), which is our long-term environmental guideline for 2050, has set a goal of “infinitely reducing environmental impact to zero,” and we are proceeding with ecosystem protection efforts.
We also participated in the TNFD Forum in 2023 and disclosed information on self-assessments of nature-related risks and opportunities based on the TNFD framework. (Note 2)

The current forest conservation activities are positioned as activities that contribute not only to biodiversity conservation, but also to climate change countermeasures such as CO2 absorption by forests, and we will continue to advance efforts in the future to build a sustainable future based on a comprehensive understanding of natural capital and climate change.
