Collaboration with domestic SI partners' datacenters at three locations: Hiroshima, Okayama, and Fukuoka.
Colt Technology Services Inc. (President: Katsumi Oe, Location: Roppongi, Minato-ku, Tokyo, hereinafter referred to as Colt) and Fujitsu Limited (President: Takahito Tokita, headquartered in Kawasaki, Kanagawa Prefecture, hereinafter referred to as Fujitsu) announced today that Fujitsu's transport blade "Fujitsu Network 1FINITY (hereinafter 1FINITY) T900 / T950" (Note 1) will be utilized for network expansion in western Japan, which Colt is currently promoting at the three locations of Hiroshima, Okayama, and Fukuoka with the aim of operational readiness by 2025. By utilizing Fujitsu's products, which achieve the world's highest level of large capacity and low power consumption and have a manufacturing and technology support system in Japan, Colt aims to provide more reliable network quality that supports the realization of a resilient and sustainable society and enables collaboration with SI partners' datacenters in western Japan.
Fujitsu and Colt have previously cooperated in technology verification, and in a joint demonstration experiment conducted in July 2023, a maximum transmission speed of 800 gigabits per second per wavelength was achieved for commercial long-distance networks in Japan. This demonstration was conducted over a distance of approximately 600 km between Tokyo and Osaka, using Fujitsu's L-band/C-band transport blade "1FINITY T700 / T900" and Colt's dedicated line service "Colt Wave."
The Fujitsu "1FINITY T900 / T950" adopted this time is an optical transceiver that achieves the world's highest class of large capacity data transmission at 1.2 terabits per second per optical wavelength. By employing Fujitsu's proprietary closed-loop water cooling technology (Note 2), it achieves double the cooling capability compared to conventional air cooling systems and reduces generated noise by 50%. This device enables large capacity transmission of 1.2 terabits per second per wavelength on compatible optical networks, while achieving a 40% increase in reach compared to conventional products and reducing the overall CO2 emissions of the system by 60% (values are based on using the advanced technology of the line system (optical wavelength division multiplexing device) "1FINITY L900" commonly used with Fujitsu's optical transmission platform).
Additionally, Colt's dedicated line service, "Colt Wave," supports major industry-standard optical interfaces and protocols, based on a fiber architecture with redundancy and diversity, to meet the increasingly high demands for line performance and resilience. Moreover, the service is a layer 1 dedicated data service that supports bandwidth from 1 gigabit to 400 gigabits, providing seamless connectivity within cities, domestically, and internationally from over 230 cities, including the five major cities in japan, and more than 275 optical PoPs (Point of Presence). Colt's network connects to over 1,100 datacenters globally and over 2,000 commercial buildings.
Regarding the adoption of Fujitsu's transport blade, Yasutaka Mizutani, President of Colt Technology Services for the Asia-Pacific region, stated the following.
"As a leading ICT vendor representing japan and also our sales partner, we have previously collaborated with Fujitsu on demonstration experiments regarding the commercial long-distance network between Tokyo and Osaka, and we have been deeply impressed by their solid technology and firm support system in japan. It is indeed reassuring for us to receive the provision of transponders and technical support from Fujitsu for our network expansion in western japan, which is key to our future growth."
Hiroki Matsui, Director of Photonics Systems Business Unit at Fujitsu Limited, stated the following.
We are extremely honored that Colt technology services, which is expanding its network business globally, has highly valued our technology and resistance, and adopted it. Following our contributions to the western japan network, we will collaborate globally with Colt technology services to contribute to enhancing the reliability, capacity, and energy efficiency of the network.

Note
- Note 1Fujitsu Network 1FINITY:
Fujitsu's optical transmission system that disaggregates traditional optical transmission equipment into WDM/transport/switching functions. The T900/T950 adopted this time is a transponder that achieves a large capacity transmission of 1.2 terabits per second per optical wavelength while simultaneously achieving low power consumption, with differences in AC/DC power supply compatibility. The T700 can transmit up to 400 gigabits per second per optical wavelength. When combined with the L900, which is a WDM system, it provides maximum performance. - Note: 2Closed-loop water cooling technology:
By housing all cooling structures within the device, this water cooling technology enhances cooling efficiency while maintaining high reliability and maintainability, which are essential for optical transmission equipment used over long periods, without the need to upgrade existing facilities.
