Osaka Gas Co., Ltd. (President: Masataka Fujiwara, hereinafter referred to as 'Osaka Gas') has joined the international initiative '24/7 Carbon Free Energy Compact' aiming to promote the dissemination of carbon-free electricity supply across all time zones. Currently, 165 entities have joined, and Osaka Gas is the 9th Japanese company to join.
The '24/7 CFE Compact' is an initiative launched by the United Nations in September 2021. Companies and organizations worldwide aiming to accelerate climate change mitigation have joined to promote the dissemination of carbon-free electricity by aligning real-time (hourly) electricity demand and supply of carbon-free electricity.
The Daigas Group is engaged in owning or procuring biomass power generation and wind power generation that can generate electricity not only during the day but also at night. Consequently, it is capable of supplying electricity 100% from renewable energy ('renewable energy') at all times.
The electricity rate menu 'D-Green' sold by Daigas Energy Co., Ltd., a 100% subsidiary of Osaka Gas (President: Hiroyoshi Fukutani, hereinafter referred to as 'Daigas Energy'), as a sales agent of Osaka Gas (sales started in April 2021), supplies customers with electricity generated 100% from renewable energy according to the customers' electricity demand. By joining the 24/7 CFE Compact, Osaka Gas, through Daigas Energy, sells the 'D-Green' 100% renewable energy electricity rate menu to industrial and commercial customers, meeting the needs of customers nationwide seeking to respond to international initiatives while contributing to reducing CO2 emissions and enhancing corporate value.
The Daigas Group aims to contribute to the dissemination of 5 million kW of renewable energy sources domestically and internationally by 2030, including development and ownership along with procurement from other companies, towards achieving carbon neutrality by 2050. Moving forward, we will continue to contribute to the realization of a low-carbon and decarbonized society through the development and supply of renewable energy sources.
