Zhongbai Holdings GroupLtd (SZSE:000759) Adds CN¥459m to Market Cap in the Past 7 Days, Though Investors From Five Years Ago Are Still Down 31%

Simply Wall St ·  Dec 3 09:49

Zhongbai Holdings Group Co.,Ltd. (SZSE:000759) shareholders will doubtless be very grateful to see the share price up 49% in the last quarter. But that doesn't change the fact that the returns over the last five years have been less than pleasing. After all, the share price is down 32% in that time, significantly under-performing the market.

While the stock has risen 18% in the past week but long term shareholders are still in the red, let's see what the fundamentals can tell us.

Given that Zhongbai Holdings GroupLtd didn't make a profit in the last twelve months, we'll focus on revenue growth to form a quick view of its business development. When a company doesn't make profits, we'd generally hope to see good revenue growth. Some companies are willing to postpone profitability to grow revenue faster, but in that case one would hope for good top-line growth to make up for the lack of earnings.

In the last five years Zhongbai Holdings GroupLtd saw its revenue shrink by 6.4% per year. While far from catastrophic that is not good. The stock hasn't done well for shareholders in the last five years, falling 6%, annualized. But it doesn't surprise given the falling revenue. It might be worth watching for signs of a turnaround - buyers are probably expecting one.

A Different Perspective

Investors in Zhongbai Holdings GroupLtd had a tough year, with a total loss of 3.8%, against a market gain of about 7.8%. However, keep in mind that even the best stocks will sometimes underperform the market over a twelve month period. Unfortunately, longer term shareholders are suffering worse, given the loss of 6% doled out over the last five years. We would want clear information suggesting the company will grow, before taking the view that the share price will stabilize.
