The Zhitong Finance App learned that the Canadian startup Tensorrent raised 0.693 billion dollars in a new round of D financing. According to information, the company wants to compete with Nvidia (NVDA.US) and others in the artificial intelligence accelerator market.
Tensorrent chose Samsung (SSNLF.US) to foundry its artificial intelligence chips last year and raised funds from Samsung, Amazon (AZMN.US) co-founder Bezos, and many others. Tensorrent Chief Operating Officer Keith Witek said Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati Law Firm and Barclays Bank helped complete this round of financing.
According to reports, Tensorrent's valuation of this round of financing is 2.6 billion dollars.
Some of TensorRent's chips use RISC-V technology, an Arm-based alternative supported by Qualcomm (QCOM.US) and some other semiconductor companies. Another major semiconductor architecture is x86, supported by Intel (INTC.US) and AMD (AMD.US).
