英特尔寻求外部“空降”CEO

Intel is seeking an external "parachute" CEO.

wallstreetcn ·  08:31

On December 3rd, Eastern Time, Bloomberg reported that Intel is looking for a new CEO, focusing on external candidates, and has hired executive search firm Spencer Stuart to assist in finding new leadership.

Target candidates include Matt Murphy, head of Marvell Technology, and former CEO Lip-Bu Tan of Cadence Design Systems. In addition, Intel may also consider talent from competitors such as Taiwan Semiconductor, AMD, and Nvidia, or recruit from its largest customers.

Currently, CFO David Zinsner and Executive Vice President Michelle Johnston Holthaus are temporarily taking on the role of Intel's CEO.

The sudden departure of former Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger has put the company in need of urgent leadership succession. Over the past three years, Gelsinger focused on the challenging task of revitalizing Intel, but failed to rebuild the internal leadership training system, leading to a shortage of internal candidates.

Since its founding in 1968, Intel's leaders have mostly been promoted internally. Analysts believe that bringing in talent from outside to quickly bring about change is not easy, and finding the right candidate capable of managing Intel's complex business is extremely challenging. The new CEO will need time to recover from the $20 billion in revenue losses over the past few years due to competition.

However, despite facing serious challenges, Intel remains an important company in the technology industry, with over 70% of personal computers and servers worldwide relying on Intel processors.
