China Telecom and Huawei unveiled the 'Low Altitude Intelligent Networking Laboratory,' which will promote the research and application of low-altitude communication technology, and also signed centralized cooperation projects with 25 companies such as Unisun, ZTE, etc. in the low-altitude economic strategy.

"Science and Technology Board Daily" December 3 news (Reporter Huang Xinyi) at today's 2024 Digital Technology Ecology Conference, low-altitude economy and artificial intelligence have become the core focus, with many listed companies cooperating with China Telecom.

At the meeting, China Telecom and Huawei unveiled the 'Low Altitude Intelligent Networking Laboratory' to promote the research and application of low-altitude communication technology; China Telecom also signed centralized cooperation projects involving low-altitude economic strategies with 25 companies including Unisun, ZTE, Feidu Technology, Daotong Intelligence, Zhongtian Huahang, Shenzhen Joint Aircraft Technology, and Huanuo Aerospace.

It is reported that China Telecom's Low-altitude Industry Alliance has covered 82 companies and scientific research institutions in the upstream and downstream of the low-altitude industry chain. Since its establishment in June of this year, the alliance has built more than 60 low-altitude scenarios with over 30 ecological partners, and the expected internal contract amount in the alliance is nearly one billion.

"Science and Technology Board Daily" reporters learned at the booth that currently Unisun and China Telecom are collaborating on low-altitude economic activities, already implemented in the field of emergency communication. Unisun's Deputy General Manager and Secretary of the Board of Directors, Li Xiaoyan, also stated at today's third-quarter performance briefing that the company seized the opportunity in the 'Aviation Emergency' related medium-sized drone special procurement this year. Unisun's large Peng CW-100 emergency communication reconnaissance drone has won a leading number of bids, with the related projects currently being delivered successively, expected to make a positive contribution to the 2024 performance improvement.

Listed company XIN SCIENCE MOBILE on the Science and Technology Innovation Board also cooperates with China Telecom to explore opportunities in the field of low-altitude economy. XIN SCIENCE MOBILE and China Telecom's 5G Joint Sharing Working Group jointly built a 3.5G low-altitude communication solution, completed on-site testing in Shiyan, Hubei, verified good low-altitude coverage capabilities within 300m based on the current 3.5GHz frequency band, and on-site staff of XIN SCIENCE MOBILE told "Science and Technology Innovation Board Daily" reporters that they are studying and developing related products to create a low-altitude intelligent network, mainly based on a 5G-Air Ground integrated network as the main network and a satellite interconnection network as the auxiliary, which can be applied in agriculture, electrical logistics, air traffic operations, and sightseeing tourism in the future.

In terms of artificial intelligence, China Telecom's 'Xiran' integrated intelligent computing platform has connected with 50 partners, with a computing power scale reaching 27 EFLOPS, of which its own intelligent computing scale is 21 EFLOPS covering 18 cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Tianjin, and Suzhou.

In addition to the intelligent computing platform dispatch, China Telecom is also exploring the landing of edge AI. During the conference, China Telecom unveiled the Tianyi AI mobile phone, jointly developed with Qualcomm and ZTE, with an embedded Star Big Model with a scale of 3B parameters, capable of realizing AI real-time translation and summarization during calls, voice payment of bills, booking flights, hotels, etc., and providing real-time warning of AI face replacement risks. Reporters on the scene learned that China Telecom plans to launch AI glasses, AI robots, AI companion terminals, etc., in the future.

At the booth, reporters from Star Daily tried on AI glasses that are still under development. It is equipped with a self-developed large model by China Telecom, with Shun being the hardware partner for the glasses. By connecting to the mobile phone end and computer end, it can interact through voice commands. The future mass-produced version of the AI glasses will add more end-side functions, such as taking photos, recording videos, playing music, making calls, and communicating.

In addition, China Telecom's Artificial Intelligence Research Institute is also exploring robot-related technologies. The humanoid robot demonstrated on site can perform household operations with its two arms, including pouring water, dispensing paper cups, tidying up desks, and handing over flowers. Booth staff told reporters from Star Daily that the current cost of deploying humanoid robots in factory and other business-to-business (B2B) scenarios is still relatively high, and they are more bullish on the future application prospects in consumer (C-end) scenarios.

Combining AI large models with video networking applications will greatly enhance the capabilities of video recognition and semantic retrieval. Reporters learned on site that China Telecom's Tianyi Vision Network platform has a user base of over 0.11 billion, with over 8 million connected devices. The AI is called more than 1.8 billion times daily. Uniview Technologies, as a partner of China Telecom's 'Full Category Co-creation Action 2023/2024' and a member of the 'Hai Pingmian Plan Tianyi Vision Network Industry Alliance,' provides China Telecom with an integrated solution of 'AI large model equipment + business services.'

Furthermore, Uniview Q&M Dental also offers intelligent sports exercise solutions and sports venue live broadcasting solutions. The intelligent exercise screen solution provides an entertaining way of exercising, supporting over 50 interactive sports activities, including ball games and Ba Duan Jin. The sports venue live broadcasting solution achieves angle capturing and automatic screen control through ultra-wide-angle cameras and algorithm correction, which has already been implemented in many sports venues.
