According to Zhitong Finance APP, recently, NAAS technology (NAAS.US) and strategic partner Kuaidian completed the first carbon-inclusive emission reduction issuance in the domestic electric vehicle charging service industry. This means that the carbon reduction brought about by electric vehicle charging has officially entered the trade monetization phase, marking an important step in the national carbon inclusiveness and individual carbon reduction fields.

On December 2, 2024, the Ecological Environment Bureau of Wuhan City issued a notice on the publication of the personal carbon-inclusive emission reduction values (first batch) in Wuhan City, announcing the carbon-inclusive emission reduction values for four categories including rail transit travel, new energy vehicle travel, and bike sharing travel. Among them, NAAS technology and Kuaidian, as the core carbon reduction scenarios for electric vehicle travel, became one of the first four publicized platforms. The announcement shows that, according to the 'Wuhan City New Energy Vehicle Travel Carbon Inclusiveness Methodology (Trial)', from September 24, 2024, to October 29, 2024, the carbon-inclusive emission reduction of the Kuaidian platform was 1,962 tons, the largest scale among the four platforms.

Under the guidance of the dual-carbon goals, local governments are accelerating the promotion of public green low-carbon actions and guiding green consumption models. The behavior of charging electric vehicles is highly valued for green carbon reduction and has a clear reduction accounting method, making it the highest in public recognition and participation among carbon-inclusive promotion scenarios. However, carbon inclusiveness still faces obstacles such as insufficient incentive mechanisms and difficulties in the monetization of carbon assets. This issuance of the first batch of carbon-inclusive emission reductions by the Ecological Environment Bureau of Wuhan represents the first of its kind nationwide, marking a historic breakthrough in carbon-inclusive trading monetization.

In August 2021, NAAS technology took the lead in the industry to establish carbon accounts for electric vehicle charging. Electric vehicle owners can obtain carbon points through daily charging behaviors, which are recorded in carbon books, and the earned carbon points can be used for cash deductions during charging, achieving a closed-loop for carbon reduction trading. As of June 30, 2024, the number of users using carbon accounts on the Kuaidian platform has reached 0.8 million.

Zhai Yubo, General Manager of Sustainable Development at NAAS technology, stated that with the continuous rise in the total number of electric vehicles, the potential for carbon reduction brought by charging services is immense. The first issuance of Wuhan's charging carbon reduction value will have a significant motivating effect on public participation in carbon inclusiveness actions. NAAS technology will continue to promote the implementation of carbon inclusiveness practices in various cities and drive a comprehensive green transformation of energy in China's transportation sector.
