Tsinghua's Hong Bo: At least 30-50 domestic brain-computer interface implantation surgeries will be conducted next year.

On December 6, Professor Hong Bo from Tsinghua University's School of Biomedical Engineering revealed at the International Brain-Computer Interface Conference 2024 held in shanghai that China's independently developed NEO brain-computer interface devices will be used in about 10 centers across the country next year, in 30-50 cases of brain-computer interface implantation surgeries.

Elon Musk's brain-computer interface company Neuralink announced that it has received approval from Canada's health department to start its first clinical trial in the country, and has begun recruiting participants publicly. Neuralink stated that similar to the previous PRIME study, this study named CAN-PRIME aims to evaluate the safety of Neuralink's implant and surgical robots, and assess the initial functionality of its brain-computer interface in 'helping patients with limb paralysis control external devices using their thoughts.'

Western Securities' research reports point out that brain science and brain-like research are among the seven major technological frontier fields targeted during the 14th Five-Year Plan, and brain-computer interface is currently one of the key core technologies with promising application prospects. It is suggested to pay attention to overseas symbols in the 0-1 stage and domestic mappings.

Nanjing Panda Electronics (00553): Nanjing Panda stated on the investor interaction platform that the company is undertaking key provincial research and development plans in the field of brain-computer interfaces, and is currently still in the research and development stage.

Xinyi Medical-B (06609): On June 25, 2023, China's first independently developed interventional brain-computer interface successfully completed animal trials in peking. This interventional brain-computer interface was jointly developed by Professor Duan Feng's research team from Nankai University's School of ai and Xinyi Medical.
