JAL is the first airline in japan to introduce electric high-lift loaders (hereinafter referred to as "HL") and electric belt loaders (hereinafter referred to as "BL"), and will start full-scale operations at Haneda Airport from December 17, 2024 (Tuesday).
HL is equipment that works in conjunction with a towing tractor (*1) that pulls containers and pallets specifically designed for aircraft, loaded with baggage, mail, and cargo, to load and unload containers and pallets into and out of the aircraft. The electric HL being introduced from TREPEL has many achievements worldwide and can handle operations for about 1-2 days on a full charge.
Additionally, the BL is equipment related to the loading and unloading of cargo, equipped with a powered conveyor, and is used to unload baggage and cargo checked in by passengers from the bulk cargo hold located at the rear of the passenger aircraft. The model from EINSA being introduced (*2) also has numerous achievements globally and can handle operations for about 1-2 days on a full charge.

By introducing electric HL and electric BL, CO2 emissions will be reduced to zero compared to conventional methods, and quietness will be improved. This is expected to contribute to improving the operators' working environment, alleviating noise and environmental issues around the airport, and further contributing to the preservation of the global environment.
JAL will continue to contribute to the preservation of the global environment and will persist in its efforts toward achieving a more sustainable airline industry.
(*1) Japan Airlines Group has already introduced electric towing tractors in the fiscal year 2022.
(*2) Electric towing tractors from TiPS are scheduled to be introduced next February.
