Luigi Mangione, who is regarded by the police as a person involved in the Manhattan murder of UnitedHealth Group Inc. executive Brian Thompson, was arrested in Pennsylvania on Monday. He is now charged with possessing an illegal gun and using false identification.
According to the criminal indictment issued by the Pennsylvania court system on Monday evening, Mangione, 26, appeared in the Hollidaysburg court for the first time. He was charged with five counts, including forgery, carrying a gun without a license, and presenting false documents to law enforcement agencies.
Mangione was arrested by police on Monday morning after being identified by an employee at a McDonald's restaurant in Altoona.
