Malaysian stock exchange's benchmark KLCI was 8.31 points lower in late morning, losing 0.52% to 1,600.66 points as at 10:08am, barely above the 1600-point threshold, following overnight US and European markets that were gloomy as investors cautiously waiting for the release of the latest Consumer Price Index (CPI).
On Tuesday, three major US market indices closed lower. Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) shed 154 points, or 0.35%, to settle at 44,247 points, S&P 500 fell 17 points or 0.30% to close at 6,034 points, tech-heavy index Nasdaq gave up 49 points, or 0.26%, closing at 19,687 points.
Likewise, the European markets also traded lower. Europe's STOXX 600 Index fell 0.53% to close at 518 points, Germany's DAX declined 0.09% to settle at 20,329 points, France's CAC 40 decreased 1.15% to settle at 7,394 points, UK's FTSE100 lost 0.86%, closing at 8,280 points.
