Star Alliance President's Meeting
Michael Rousseau has been elected as the new chair.
- Following United Airlines CEO Scott Kirby, the President and CEO of Air Canada will assume the chairmanship.
Michael Rousseau, President and CEO of Air Canada, has been elected as the new Chairman of the Star Alliance Chief Executive Board (CEB). He will succeed United Airlines CEO Scott Kirby, who held the position since December 2020.
Upon his appointment, Rousseau stated, "I look forward to working with the Chief Executive Board over the next two years to continue our advanced efforts to provide a seamless customer experience. Star Alliance is focused on realizing the vision of a world where it is easier to connect, and I hope to work with all alliance members in 2025 and beyond."
In his new role as CEB Chairman of Star Alliance, the world's largest airline alliance, Rousseau will lead the biannual Chief Executive Board meetings and guide the strategic direction of Star Alliance, which consists of 25 global member airlines.
Theo Panagiotoulias, CEO of Star Alliance, congratulated Rousseau on his appointment and said, "It is a pleasure to welcome Michael Rousseau, one of the most experienced CEOs in the Chief Executive Board, as the new chairman, and I look forward to working closely with him to realize the alliance's new vision. I would also like to express my heartfelt gratitude to Scott Kirby for leading and supporting Star Alliance during his four-year term."
The 25 member airlines are represented by CEOs belonging to the CEB, which functions as a governing body that oversees the alliance and determines its comprehensive strategic direction.
