France's nuclear energy output has risen to its highest level since February 2020, helping to offset the decline in wind power generation in Europe.
According to data from the grid operator RTE, as of 7:30 AM local time on Thursday, the power generation of EDF's 56 nuclear reactors was 51,906 megawatts. Meanwhile, a model predicts that the wind power generation in Germany, Europe's largest electricity market, is only a small fraction of this figure.
Additionally, EDF raised its nuclear power generation target for the second time this year on Wednesday. The company expects an output of between 358 terawatt-hours and 364 terawatt-hours this year, higher than the previous forecast of 340 to 360 terawatt-hours.
