JAL was selected as one of the "Top 100" in the global award "Corporate Startup Stars 2024," and its internal venture "W-PIT(*1)" received the "Special Award." This award is organized by the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC)(*2) and Mind the Bridge(*3), evaluating pioneering efforts in open innovation between corporations and startups. The award ceremony was held in Paris on December 4, 2024.

Awarded companies are recognized for their diverse and strategic open innovation, including venture clients, corporate venture capital (CVC), intrapreneurship, and accelerators. The evaluation criteria are based on the following three points.
1. Internal mechanisms : organizational structure, innovation culture, processes, etc.
2. Models and tools : utilization of CVC investments and innovation labs, etc.
3. Substantive results : social and economic impact through a comprehensive approach, etc.

Since 2019, JAL has been operating the JAL Innovation Fund as a Corporate Venture Capital (CVC). Currently, it is active under JAPAN AIRLINES VENTURES (JALV) as an integrated team with a Silicon Valley-based investment strategy team and a business development team in Tokyo, continuously challenging to open up the future of the aviation industry.
