An Amazon spokesperson said the company will donate $1 million to the inaugural fund of US President-elect Donald Trump. American technology companies want to establish a positive relationship with the government, and Meta Platforms Inc. has also previously donated funds for employment activities.
Trump said on Thursday that he will also meet Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, highlighting his contacts with tech giants.
Trump said in an interview that Bezos is coming next week.
An Amazon spokesperson said on Thursday that in addition to direct donations, Amazon will also livestream the inauguration ceremony. Amazon stated that these donations were corporate acts and were not funded by Bezos.
Trump said on Thursday that Facebook founder Zuckerberg also met him and mentioned his relationships with Tesla and SpaceX founder Elon Musk. Meta, which owns Facebook and Instagram, also donated $1 million to Trump's inaugural fund.
“I want to hear ideas from them,” Trump said of business leaders. “We hope they do well.”
