Markets Trading Mixed, All Ears Awaiting The Wednesday Fed Decision

Early afternoon markets are trading mixed, as everyone awaits the Fed's rate cut decision on Wednesday.

At 1:13 p.m. ET, the $Dow Jones Industrial Average (.DJI.US)$ is off 0.09%. The $S&P 500 Index (.SPX.US)$ is up 0.49% and the $Nasdaq Composite Index (.IXIC.US)$ is leading the way, up 1.21%.

$Alphabet-A (GOOGL.US)$, $Apple (AAPL.US)$,  $Tesla (TSLA.US)$ shares are all trading higher, with $Broadcom Inc (AVGO.CA)$ leading the way, up 9%. $NVIDIA (NVDA.US)$ has entered correction territory, with shares off 2%.  

At the top of everyone's mind is the Fed's upcoming two-day meeting starting on Tuesday. When it concludes on Wednesday, they're expected to announce a quarter-point rate cut. Investors will also keep their eyes open for language on future policy moves.

On Sunday, Bitcoin reached another record, soaring as high as $106,491, according to CoinDesk data.

Along with the Fed meeting, retail sales numbers will come out on Tuesday morning along with earnings from $General Mills (GIS.US)$, $Lennar Corp (LEN.US)$ and $Micron Technology Inc (MU.CA)$ on Wednesday and$NIKE (NIKE.US)$ and $FedEx (FDX.US)$ earnings numbers on Thursday.
