Simply Wall St ·  Dec 18 22:33

Generally, when a single insider buys stock, it is usually not a big deal. However, when several insiders are buying, like in the case of The Hain Celestial Group, Inc. (NASDAQ:HAIN), it sends a favourable message to the company's shareholders.

While insider transactions are not the most important thing when it comes to long-term investing, logic dictates you should pay some attention to whether insiders are buying or selling shares.

Hain Celestial Group Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

Over the last year, we can see that the biggest insider purchase was by Executive VP & CFO Lee Boyce for US$103k worth of shares, at about US$7.67 per share. So it's clear an insider wanted to buy, even at a higher price than the current share price (being US$7.41). While their view may have changed since the purchase was made, this does at least suggest they have had confidence in the company's future. To us, it's very important to consider the price insiders pay for shares. Generally speaking, it catches our eye when insiders have purchased shares at above current prices, as it suggests they believed the shares were worth buying, even at a higher price.
