According to reports, Honda Motor and Nissan Motor will begin discussions on a possible merger as early as December 23. This will accelerate the momentum for the potential integration of these two Japanese Auto Manufacturers.
Earlier reports indicated that senior executives of the two companies are considering integration, which may expand to include Mitsubishi Motors.
Earlier, there were also reports that before strengthening ties between Honda and Nissan, Fujifilm Holdings Corporation Unsponsored ADR had approached the company regarding acquiring control of Nissan. Honda threatened that if Nissan sought to establish a partnership with Fujifilm Holdings Corporation Unsponsored ADR, Honda would either terminate the existing technical cooperation with Nissan or act as a 'white knight' in the event of Fujifilm Holdings Corporation Unsponsored ADR attempting a hostile takeover of Nissan.
The merger of the two Japanese companies will establish a barrier in Japan against the Toyota Motor Group and enable Honda and Nissan to concentrate resources to compete with Tesla and China Auto Manufacturers in the Global market.
