MACC Clears YTL Of Any Wrongdoing Over 1Bestarinet

$YTLPOWR (6742.MY)$ , in a Bursa filing, informed that the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission's investigation into the 1Bestarinet Project was undertaken by YTL Communications Sdn Bhd a subsidiary of the Company has been released.

Accordingly, YTL said it had received confirmation from MACC that it has concluded its investigation and determined that no charges will be pursued against YTL Communications.

Previously, the MACC said it will be focusing on the aspects of internet data and service quality in its investigation into the 1BestariNet project for schools nationwide. Chief Tan Sri Azam Baki had said that the investigation will look at the provision of data to 8,000 schools across the country on whether it was supplied according to the specified contract specifications or otherwise.

According to the contract, 1BestariNet has to supply internet services to schools across the country according to the stipulated speed and amount of data. MACC had said that it needed to look at this because under the law, if a claim involving a service is made but it is not supplied, then it is an offence.
