The liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier “ELISA ARDEA (Elisa Aldea)” (hereinafter “main ship”) ordered by our affiliate company France LNG Shipping SAS (France LNG Shipping, Note 1) was completed on December 3 at Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. (Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries). This ship will be engaged in LNG transportation to the French Electric Power Company (EDF) for up to 20 years under the management of the French ship management company Gazocean (Gas Ocean, Note 3) based on a long-term fixed-term charter contract with EDF LNG Shipping SAS (Note 2).
The main engine is equipped with a dual-fuel low-speed diesel engine manufactured by WinGD with excellent fuel consumption efficiency that uses fuel oil and boil-off gas (natural gas that vaporizes during navigation). Furthermore, efficient operation is achieved by adopting a membrane type cargo tank with a capacity of 174,000 cubic meters with excellent heat insulation performance and an Air Liquide device that can re-liquefy surplus boil-off gas.
