Dongfeng Motor has announced its entry into the Mexican market, and is yet another Chinese automaker that is actively expanding overseas.

The company officially entered the Mexican auto market in recent days and launched more than 10 models there, including battery electric vehicle (BEV) models and hybrids, it said in an announcement yesterday.

These models, which include the all-electric E70 as well as the Huge HEV hybrid SUV (sport utility vehicle), mark an important step in Dongfeng's expansion into Latin America, the company said.

Dongfeng also showcased its products and technologies, including hybrid engines and fast charging.

The company will increase its investment in new energy vehicle (NEV) models in the Latin American market to provide more efficient and environmentally friendly travel options for local consumers, it said.

In the January-November period, Dongfeng sold 780,000 passenger NEVs, up 73.3 percent year-on-year, its announcement noted.

In September, Dongfeng launched its compact model Dongfeng Box in Hong Kong and showcased other models including Voyah Dream and Dongfeng 007.

The company's premium electric off-road brand, M-Hero, brought its first model, the M-917, rebranded locally as the M-Hero I, to Dubai, United Arab Emirates, on November 18.
