TuSimple announced on Thursday that the company will change its name to CreateAI and shift from autonomous trucking to AI gaming technology.

Zhito Finance learned that TuSimple (TSPH.US) announced on Thursday that the company will change its name to CreateAI and transition from autonomous trucking to AI gaming technology, marking an attempt by this once-prominent autonomous trucking startup to make a comeback. According to the information, CreateAI is committed to applying advanced AI technology across multiple Industries, particularly in generative AI for animation and video game production and autonomous driving technology in the Transportation sector.

The company's CEO Cheng Lu stated that entering the gaming and animation technology field represents a natural evolution of the company's capabilities, although this transition has faced two years of setbacks and regulatory challenges.

TuSimple was founded in 2015, attracting investment from Chinese Internet Plus-Related giant Sina Corporation, as well as global giants such as NVIDIA, Volkswagen, and United Parcel Service. However, the fate of this autonomous trucking developer reversed in 2022 when it came under scrutiny from USA regulators. Earlier this year, the company announced it had decided to go (Delisted) from Nasdaq; less than three years ago, the company raised $1.35 billion during its IPO in April 2021.

TuSimple is facing significant legal challenges raised by former CEO Xiaodi Hou, who demands that the Board of Directors immediately liquidate the company and return the remaining approximately $0.45 billion in funds to Shareholders on a "purely proportional distribution" basis, regardless of the class of Stocks to which the Shareholders belong.

Although CEO Cheng Lu stated that the Board of Directors has approved the management's proposal to shift towards AI gaming made in March, Xiaodi Hou and the representatives of Other Shareholders opposed this move, claiming that the investment in the development of China's gaming and animation lacks proper shareholder approval.

Business plan documents show that the newly named CreateAI will focus on video game and anime production and Publishing, utilizing its newly developed image-to-video AI model "Ruyi" for content development. The company has 270 employees globally, including research and content production teams located in China, Japan, and the USA. The company cites third-party reports stating that the valuation of the global gaming market will reach $200 billion by 2023.

The company announced that it has obtained the official license for the martial arts IP "Jin Yong's Knights Errant" and will develop a large-scale martial arts open-world RPG (Role-Playing Game). Regarding the "Three-Body" IP, CreateAI revealed that it will collaborate with the "father of Macross," animation director Shoji Kawamori, and top animation production company Production I.G.
