Today's growth market saw both the TSE Growth Market Index and the TSE Growth Market 250 Index decline, with the number of rising stocks at 194, falling stocks at 369, and unchanged stocks at 38.
Today's growth market was soft. The US market on the 18th was sluggish. The major policy interest rate was lowered by 0.25% as expected at the FOMC, but the reduction in the forecast for rate cuts in 2025 from previous estimates led to disappointment and a decline. Afterwards, with the rise in long-term interest rates, the decline widened and ended.
In contrast to the declining US stock market indices, the TSE Growth Market Index started lower. After marking the day's low of 804 points in the morning, there was a slight rebound in buying, gradually narrowing the decline, but the recovery was slow, fluctuating in the negative territory throughout the day. In addition to the decline in major US stock indices, the significant drop in Micron Technology Inc, a major player in Semiconductor Memory, led to a deterioration in domestic investor sentiment, fueled further by a steep decline in the SOX Index. Also, the Bank decided to maintain its current monetary policy at the monetary policy meeting, and for the third consecutive time, refrained from additional rate hikes, but with Bank of Japan Governor Ueda's press conference approaching, a wait-and-see mood spread, leading to a lack of buyers.
Individually, Heartseed <219A>, which had seen a significant rise recently, continued to be dominated by selling, dropping 13%, while ACSL <6232>, which had surged significantly the previous day, fell by 12% due to profit-taking. Additionally, TORICO <7138> experienced a 9% decline as selling pressure increased after the buying frenzy. Among the top market cap stocks, Free <4478> and GENDA <9166> performed softly, with the largest declines seen in Nihon Denka <5759>, Frutta Frutta <2586>, and Linkers <5131>.
On the other hand, OnDeck <7360> benefited from large deal closures, landing above its planned performance for the fiscal year ending November 2024, maintaining buying pressure and reaching a temporary stop-high with a 24% increase, while Libero <9245> rose 18% due to favorable reactions to projected earnings and Dividends forecasts being upgraded and the establishment of a shareholder benefit program. Additionally, Amakaze Taiyo <5616> also received a positive response to the introduction of a shareholder benefit program, hitting a stop-high with a 15% increase. Among the top market cap stocks, GNI Group <2160> and Trial <141A> showed firm performance, with notable increases seen from Business Coach <9562>, Ligua <7090>, and DWTI <4576>.
In the TSE Growth Market Core Index, Cover <5253>, GENDA, and Free saw declines.
