Jinwu Financial News | The “2024 WeChat Brand Protection Report” revealed that from January 1, 2024 to October 31, 2024, WeChat imposed penalties ranging from banning for a certain period of time to permanent bans on nearly 0.012 million fake accounts, accounting for 30% of the accounts penalized during the same period, an increase of 33.3% over last year. In the same period, WeChat actively cracked down on more than 0.12 million fake live broadcast rooms and fined 0.032 million famous broadcasters.
Hu Yingchun, Vice President of Legal Affairs and Deputy General Counsel of Tencent, also revealed that from January to October 2024, the WeChat Brand Protection Joint Team cooperated with law enforcement agencies in Shanghai, Shandong, Guangdong, Hebei and other places to successfully uncover 29 cases. The police arrested more than 190 people involved in the cases, totaling billions of dollars, involving more than 20 industries such as luxury goods, sports goods, Olympics-related products, pharmaceuticals, agricultural equipment, alcohol, medical devices, etc., covering more than 30 brands.
