NTT Data Group (hereinafter referred to as NTT Data Group) has published the survey results on the utilization of Generative AI on a Global scale, titled "Global GenAI Report." The survey was conducted with over 2,300 IT and Business leaders across 34 countries and regions and 12 industries, where 98% of the respondents have direct authority or influence over the adoption of Generative AI. The survey revealed a shift in focus from experimental use of Generative AI technology to use cases such as improving real business efficiency and transforming business processes, along with active investment trends.
Background and Overview
Recently, the demand for Generative AI has been rapidly expanding globally, including in Japan, and NTT Data Group is also promoting the use of Generative AI both internally and externally. Based on these achievements, market trends regarding the adoption of Generative AI in various countries were investigated, and the insights gained were published as the "Global GenAI Report" for further development of Generative AI utilization.
This report has been created and published based on a survey conducted primarily by NTT Data Group and NTT DATA, Inc. from September to October 2024, in collaboration with Jigsaw Research. It targets over 2,300 IT and Business leaders across 34 countries and regions, including Japan, in 12 industries such as Banking and Investment, Insurance, Manufacturing, and Automobiles, with 98% of them having direct authority or influence over the adoption of Generative AI.
This report clarifies that the world's IT and Business leaders are shifting their focus from experimental use of technology to use cases such as improving real business efficiency and transforming business processes in the utilization of Generative AI.

- Almost all respondents are investing in Generative AI.
- The establishment of specialized organizations focusing on Generative AI has exceeded 80%.
While active investments and the establishment of new organizations are yielding results, there are also survey results like those below.
90% of executives believe that legacy infrastructure is a barrier to the utilization of Generative AI, and 89% are concerned about the security risks associated with it.Such survey results suggest that many use cases for Generative AI are based on services provided by public cloud providers. Furthermore, the migration of legacy systems and the utilization of Generative AI in secure dedicated environments (such as on-premises) are expected to further expand the scenarios for utilizing Generative AI.
